In today's world, plastic waste has become a major concern. SONDR has taken up the challenge of reducing plastic waste as part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR). SONDR has partnered with CleanHub to combat the problem. This article will explore how this partnership has helped prevent over 200kg of plastic waste and what it means for the environment - that's more than 11,200 bottles!
CREATING A SOCIALLY & ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS SONDR
SONDR was born from the frustration of finding beauty products that are high quality, cruelty-free, ethically sourced and environmentally friendly. While our first priority is to end animal testing for personal care products, we can't consider ourselves an ethical company if we aren't trying to continuously improve our brand in all aspects.
After a lot of research, being a plastic neutral company was how we decided to begin our sustainability journey. That hunt led us to CleanHub.
WHAT IS PLASTIC NEUTRALITY?
Rather than try to explain it ourselves, here is a paragraph taken directly from CleanHub's website - they're way more eloquent than we are anyway ;) :
Plastic neutrality means that a business or individual has measured the amount of plastic they produce or use, then removed an equal amount from the natural environment. That plastic is then recycled, re-used, or disposed of responsibly.
In other words: for every kilogram of plastic they discard or produce, a kilogram is recovered. In the process of “going neutral”, businesses can invest in waste management infrastructure, support recycling efforts, or use plastic credits to offset their impact.

On top of committing to being a plastic neutral company, SONDR decided to offer a plastic free alternative to our classic deodorants within our first year in business.
We have also launched a refill pilot program with Fill - Kelowna's Refill Store a refillery based in Kelowna, BC.
WHAT IS ON THE HORIZON FOR SONDR?
SONDR is committed to constantly striving to be a more ethical, more healthy for our bodies, more accessible to our shoppers and more gentle on the environment.
We have already committed to removing 300kg of plastic waste, in partnership with CleanHub during our second year in business.
We have also switched our packaging to a post consumer recycled plastic (PCR Plastic) to ensure we are re-using the plastics currently on our earth as much as possible!
